Professional trainings intended for members of the Roma minority in Serbia

Roma Education Fund Serbia announces a public call for attending professional trainings with the aim of acquiring new knowledge and skills, i.e. better positioning of young Roma women and men in the labor market.

The professional training program is implemented within the project “Promoting the employability of young Roma women and men – phase II” with the support of the German Financial Cooperation program implemented by the German Development Bank KfW on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Germany – Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development

Until now, REF has supported a significant number of Roma women and men for better positioning on the labor market with the help of attending professional practices, professional trainings, retraining, retraining, learning foreign languages, as well as through professional and career counseling.

Professional trainings are carried out according to the highest European standards, which has shown the best results in the areas of vocational and professional trainings, additional qualifications and requalifications that FOR, with the support of local partners, has implemented in Serbia. The trainings are theoretical and practical and are implemented in companies, workshops, schools and craft shops with which FOR cooperates.

About Roma Education Fund:

REF is an international foundation, founded in 2005, dedicated to reducing the gap in education between the Roma and non-Roma populations. With an active and growing network of representative offices throughout Central, Eastern, Southeastern Europe and Turkey, the Foundation provides support in the creation and implementation of education strategies that contribute to the inclusion of Roma men and women in education systems.

Goals of the Roma Education Fund:

• Promoting the employability of young Roma women and men;
• Creation of conditions for better education of Roma children;
• Improvement of results during primary education for Roma children aged 6 to 14;

• Increased rate of completion of secondary education among Roma students;

• Providing support to members of the Roma minority during their academic studies, increasing the graduation rate of young Roma and strengthening the identity of Roma students;

General information about the competition:

• Professional trainings are conducted for a duration of up to three months and can be realized on the premises training provider or online;

• Trainings can be held at the candidate’s place of residence or at a distance of up to 30 km
km from the candidate’s place of residence, depending on the availability of local certified training subcontractors;

• The trainings are certified and aimed at strengthening the competences of young Roma men and women labor market;

• Participants of professional training are obliged to regularly attend training in accordance with the plan and program of the training provider;

• Candidates undertake to regularly attend the selected vocational training program, on the basis of which a certificate of completed vocational training is issued.

• Professional trainings in information and communication technologies are conducted online (depending on the candidate’s place of residence, they can also be conducted live in agreement with REF);

The following can apply for the competition:

• Young Roma women and men residing in the territory of the Republic of Serbia;


• Persons with at least a three-year high school diploma;


• Young people up to the age of 36 on the day of application for participation in the Program;

• People open to improving and acquiring new knowledge and skills;

• People ready to establish and maintain effective relationships with different people national and cultural identity;

• Young people dedicated to the basic goals of the Roma Education Fund;

We especially encourage young Roma women to apply for the competition for attending professional training.

I. Category of professional training:

• Basic training in the field of information and communication technologies (word, excel, power point, computer basics);
• Pedicure/Manicure;
• Manicure and pouring of nails;
• Pedicure and depilation (traditional method);
• Make-up artist;
• Carer;
• Painter;
• Customs officer/forwarder;
• Internet (digital) marketing (online training);
• Training for writing EU projects (on-line training);

II. category of professional training:

• Bookkeeper;

• Forklift driver;
• Beautician;

• Masseur;
• Female hairdresser;
• Male hairdresser;
• Training for category B driver;
• Training for category C driver;
• Computer service;
• IT training for ECDL certificates (small package);
• Adobe illustrator basic level (on-line training);
• Adobe illustrator advanced level (on-line training);
• Adobe Dreamweaver (on-line training);
• Adobe Photoshop basic level (on-line training);

• Applications can be sent no later than March 03. 2024 until 00:00 h;

• Incomplete and untimely submitted applications, as well as those received via e-mail or the contact form on the website, will not be considered;

When filling out the application, it is necessary to state the reasons for attending professional trainings (please indicate three options from the list of specified categories: the first desired professional training and two optional trainings) and how the support you are applying for can help you in order to improve the quality of employment and developing skills.

Note:

After collecting the received applications, in relation to the defined competition criteria, candidates who meet the requirements participate in a standardized selection process and upon completion receive feedback on the outcome of the process. Selected candidates will be informed about the outcome of the competition at least five days before the start of the courses.
