REFRomania | Build your Own Future Through Education Project | ID 146032

Roma Education Fund Romania has started the process of implementing the project “Build your own future through education” – code MySMIS 146032 – co-financed by the European Social Fund through the Operational Programme Human Capital. It will run for a period of 30 months from 1 July 2021 to December 2023.

The aim of the project is to increase the quality of the labour force and, in particular, that of young people that are not in employment, education or training, including those from marginalized communities and at risk of social exclusion – young NEETs – by facilitating access to support and transition programmes to the labour market, for the people living in communities in the South, South-East, and South-West regions of Muntenia, Romania.

The target group consists of 412 young unemployed NEETs, between the ages of 16 and 29, who benefit from the return to education measures through programmes such as “Second Chance” (SC). Out of the total, 125 are young Roma and at least 85 come from rural areas.

The project covers several types of activities and interventions:

• Second Chance Programmes (SC) for primary and lower secondary education. It is intended for people aged 16 to 29, registered with the Public Employment Service, who have left the education system prematurely and who fulfil the following conditions:

For enrolment in primary education (SC)

• exceed the school-age for that specific year by a minimum of 4 years

• have not completed any years in primary education

• have abandoned primary education midway

For enrolment in lower secondary education (SC)

• completed primary education

• completed the V and VI year

• abandoned education midway

• exceed the school-age by more than 4 years

  • Career Guidance and Counselling Services (CGCS)
  • Establishment within the project of four Information, Advice and Support Centres (IASC) to facilitate communication and provide support. Each IASC will be equipped with:

• Tablets (for beneficiaries)

• Laptops

• All-in-one printer

• Video projector

• Office supplies

These young people will also receive prizes and grants for each level of schooling under the SC programmes.

The final results of the project include:

• A total of 412 young NEETs beneficiaries of the SC programme

• Four Information, Advice and Support Centres (IASC) for young NEETs

• Counselling services for a minimum of 412 young people aged 16-29

• 21 unemployed young NEETs who gain a qualification as a result of this support

• A number of 412 customized intervention plans
