Roma scholarship applications of 2007 are invited

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour together with the Advisory Board of the  Public Foundation for the Hungarian Gypsies (MACIKA) have invited applications for the Roma scholarship programs of 2007.
Scholarships to be apportioned amongst Roma students may amount from 15.000 to 150.000 HUF: those pursuing their studies in higher education establishments abroad will receive the available highest amount. The application packages of underprivileged students will be favoured while evaluation.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour together with the Advisory Board of the  Public Foundation for the Hungarian Gypsies (MACIKA) have invited applications for the Roma scholarship programs of 2007.
Scholarships to be apportioned amongst Roma students may amount from 15.000 to 150.000 HUF: those pursuing their studies in higher education establishments abroad will receive the available highest amount. The application packages of underprivileged students will be favoured while evaluation.

Roma primary school students of 7th – 8th grades, 1st and 2nd grade Roma students of 6 grade secondary grammar schools, and 3rd and 4th grade Roma students of 8 grade secondary grammar schools may apply for the “Scholarship supporting studying”, which amounts to 15.000 HUF, if their academic results reach minimum 3.5 rates. The deadline for submitting their application is 30/09/2007.
Students of the above school types, reaching minimum 4.5 academic rates are welcome to apply for the “Scholarship Czinka Panna”, their deadline for submitting applications is also 30/09/2007, their scholarship amounts to 20. 000 HUF.
Full-time high school students, reaching at least 3.00, may also submit their applications till the end of September 2007, their scholarship amounts to 20. 000. HUF.
The same circumstances apply to those Roma students pursuing studies in full time Vocational, -Trade schools or Technician trainings, their scholarship will also be 20. 000 HUF.
Scholarships can only be granted to students, who finish their current year without failing.
15/10/2007 is the deadline for submitting applications for those pursuing full-time studies in colleges or universities of Hungary, gaining their first diploma, will be honoured 60. 000 HUF.
150. 000 HUF will be available for those Roma students, who continue studies in higher education establishment outside of Hungary, in the fields of arts or science, their deadline for submitting applications is the 30/10/2007.
The budget line of the scholarship program is 10. million HUF.
While evaluation, applications of underprivileged students, that contain the recommendation letters of the local, county or the National Roma Self Government, will be favoured.
The scholarships for winner applicants will be paid in full.
Application forms are downloadable from the website of MACIKA, (www.macika.hu) also obtainable from the MACIKA office, or applicants from outside of Budapest can receive it if they send a self-addressed envelope to the postal address of MACIKA.
