REF Made It Possible for 332 Adults to Enter the Labor Market through Second Chance Education Programs in Macedonia

The best performing 25 Roma women and men, who have completed official primary and/or secondary school diplomas through adult education programs, will be awarded diplomas at a special Graduation Ceremony on 13th of December 2017.

The best performing 25 Roma women and men, who have completed official primary and/or secondary school diplomas through adult education programs, will be awarded diplomas at a special Graduation Ceremony on 13th of December 2017.

A total of 190 Roma adult students have completed primary education and 142 have completed secondary education as a result of two projects: “Improving Roma Employment through Education and Training” (2015-2017) and “School Completion as Pathway towards Employment” (2016-2017). The educational projects have been implemented by the Roma Education Fund (REF) – Hungary, with the financial support of European Union, and the local non-governmental partners Association for Education and Improvement of the Roma Community IRHOM TOPAANA, Roma Educational Center TERNIPE MK, Association for the Development of the Roma Community SUMNAL, NGO KHAM – Delcevo and NGO Ambrela – Shuto Orizari – Skopje.

The projects are funded under the Operational Programme for Human Resource Development 2007-2013 under the Instrument of Pre-Accession assistance (IPA). Their overall objective is to promote equal opportunities in employment for Roma women and men by supporting Roma adults to complete primary and secondary education and empowering them to better access the labour market through training and community actions.

The Graduation Ceremony will take place from 09.00 – 14.00 at the Hotel Marriott – Skopje, conference room “Ballroom 1,” Str. Maksim Gorki, Plostad Makedonija 7.

The Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Ms. Mila Carovska, and the Minister without Portfolio and Coordinator of Implementation of the Macedonian Strategy for Roma, Mr. Samka Ibraimoski, will deliver the opening speeches at the event.
