Our School at the Verzio, Budapest/Hungary, 8 November 2011

Members of the staff of the Roma Education Fund took part in a discussion occasioned by the opening of the documentary movie, Our School, screened at the Verzio documentary film festival in Budapest on November 8. The first discussion was held with the participation of Roma activists and their supporters and was moderated by Costel Bercus, REF’s chairman.

The first discussion was held with the participation of Roma activists and their supporters and was moderated by Costel Bercus, REF’s chairman.


After Our School’s second screening, REF research manager Mihai Surdu moderated a panel discussion. Mona Nicoara, producer and director of the film, was our special guest and joined the discussion about her movie.


Our School was supported in part by REF and was acclaimed by both the public and the critics.
The movie presents the failed attempts of educational integration of Roma pupils in the daily life of a Romanian village.
